Great article from Tim Ferriss' website: Building Confidence to Confront Politicians

STEP 1: Practice Brief Eye Contact With Strangers

While you walk down the sidewalk (during daylight hours!) look at the eyes of every person walking towards you long enough to see their eye color. Less than a second. Then look away. This is the best technique I know for building solid eye contact skills quickly. In my experience, if the eye contact is brief enough, no one minds at all, and you get tons of practice in.

Boredom is the enemy. Exercise in reversing repression *by Tim Ferriss)

STEP I: D IS FOR DEFINITION
It is much like goal-setting but differs in several fundamental respects:
i. The goals shift from ambiguous wants to defined steps.
2. The goals have to be unrealistic to be effective.
3. It focuses on activities that will fill the vacuum created when work
is removed. Living like a millionaire requires doing interesting
things and not just owning enviable things.
Now it's your turn to think big.

More about MMS

October 26th.  I am adding to this post many days after it was written.  I am getting some good feedback on MMS.  People curing their breast cancer etc.  The story of Jim Humble and the odyssey of MMS as it has circled the earth healing people from all kinds of diseases is one that, at first, earned Jim the infamous title of "snake oil salesman."

Lemon Tree Conception

I was looking at the little lemon tree out on the veranda. I is about seven feet tall with one enormous lemon on a single branch. I looked at it perhaps fifteen times before I realized it was so large that it may have passed its prime and that it should be picked. I finally went over to it and put my hand around it and it released almost effortlessly from its branch. I thought perhaps it is trying to tell me something. I interpreted it as meaning "you can not receive a lemon until you accept a lemon."

Regarding the in appropriate use of the internet...by dumb-asses.

Chelsea Handler once said "Why do people who have internet access automatically assume that makes them interesting?  My cleaning lady does not have a car but she has a website and a weekly podcast.  What is Florencia ranting about?  How to fit twelve people into an El Camino?" Do you think this is racist? Or is it just a funny harmless jab at someone you really don't care about?

Kindness

Today, reading the blog of one of the most alive people I have even know, Timothy Ferriss, he reported an experience at Burning Man 2010 he had.  Surrounded by fortune 100 elite, a constant for dear Tim, he ran into such a woman, builder of economies, Harvard nobility.  She did not say much to Tim but instead handed him this poem:

Kindness

Before you know what kindness really is
you must lose things,
feel the future dissolve in a moment
like salt in a weakened broth.
What you held in your hand,
what you counted and carefully saved,
all this must go so you know
how desolate the landscape can be
between the regions of kindness.
How you ride and ride
thinking the bus will never stop,
the passengers eating maize and chicken
will stare out the window forever.

Fluoridation is the Ultimate Deception

Fluoridation is the Ultimate Deception (Opinion) -- Hesh Goldstein, citizen journalist -- (NaturalNews) The following article is, in essence, my testimony delivered to the Hawaii Senate Health Committee in 2008. It contains facts that anyone can use to oppose water flouridation wherever you live. The good news is that once again we have been successful in keeping fluoride out of our water supply. Here we go again. Let's take our pure and tasty drinking water, put a medication (fluoride) in it, make the people accept it and make believe we have Freedom of Choice in this country. June 16, 2009

Social Media Defined

MyArticleWizard.com | Social Media Optimization For Beginners

Social Media Optimization For Beginners

By: Adriana Noton

When it comes to social media, more directly social networking, there is a well known fact that you need it when publishing content on the web. Unlike SEO or PPC strategies, social media is a much more personalized marketing strategy. Content of any kind that has been produced by the users them selves is great because it is honest opinions of the people involved first hand. This is why social media optimization is the key to success.

One of the most important things you need to do is optimize the keywords you are using while continuing to bring new and relevant content to the market. Avoid old information that has been out there for a while already. Fill your content and articles with your keywords, but don't overdo it, you don't want to annoy the reader.

On the web, sites like Myspace, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook are extremely popular as well as easy ways to make a profit if you know what to do. There is no charge to use these sites even though they are the cutting edge of media today. When using SMO, SEO, and PPC you can utilize all of them to increase your visibility online and establish yourself as an expert in your field.

Blogging is a very good way to publish that new and relevant content on a daily basis. With your blog posts you can take different points of view and even just offer up new information in general that is related to your field. It also enables you to get on a more personal level with your readers, something that isn't so easy with a regular website.

Micro blogging is also another good thing to use. You can get very personal and very interactive with others by way of Twitter which in turn will increase your search engine rankings with the traffic you can draw in.

While you are online you should always be looking for sites where you can establish a presence in your niche. This doesn't mean you have to be active on all of them, but if you use the right keywords you secure your spot there in your niche before someone else gets it. This is a great way to boost yourself in the search engines.

Whenever you are doing things online you need to make sure it is easy for others to share. Chicklets work best for this and let people add your site to social bookmarks right from the page. Also, add them to each piece of new content and bookmark every post.

Your participation is discussions online is also very important. All of the hard work you have already put in to this won't do much for you if you just remain quiet all the time. Chat with others, comment on their blogs are just ask and answer a few questions so you remain active.

Now is the time to get some kind of online reputation management as well, if you don't already have it. If you would rather not spend any money on that for now, you can at least use the free services that are available. All social network sites have notification setting and both Yahoo and Google have alerts as well. This will help keep you up to date on everything related to your keywords, right as it is happening.

The Internet is already changing the way how our life works. It may be wise to start looking into utilizing it to increase your prescence on the Internet. We can help your company utilize SEO and PPC to help increase your business.

What is wrong with The Secret - a more comprehensive analysis

What's wrong with the secret?
The Secret is a “new age” sensation. It’s a video, a book and a CD collection that promises understanding and that you can take back your power in this life. It promises that by the power of thought, emotions and actions you can change your life because the Universe/ God supplies you with whatever you believe in and dwell upon.

Landmark Forum - Here's the facts

Is it possible to be ridiculed into self-awareness in on expensive weekend?

When it comes to positive change there are lots of seminars you can take that boot you in the butt to begin self reflection in a genuine and productive manner.  Landmark Forum is one such organization.  Here is the crux of the matter, my findings:

They say there is a big difference between what actually happened in a person’s life and the meaning or interpretation they made up about it.  Lying on your internal resume.

Kicking positive change into gear

I have come to this conclusion. In life we invest every day. We invest our time our talent and our knowledge. We bring our skill to others and we trust others to benefit us with their talents just the same. We trust our brokers to invest wisely. We trust our closest friends to nurture us. When they don't sometimes we have to let go a little bit, invest less and invest elsewhere. Sometimes the fit is not right and sometimes we just know something is not quite right. So we take the appropriate action.
<-- more! -->
Positive change means making good choices. I can not think of any more important choice than the friends we hold so dear. Our society has changed into a network of friends who protect us employ us and we them. In these difficult times we can not afford to gamble with these choices. We must find ourselves surrounded by rock solid individuals who may place demands upon us from time to time. Two way streets go both ways. And when that late night call comes in we must be prepared to be at our best for those choice friends we so ardently defend.

But what if our friends are flimsy, make poor choices and make mistakes? Certainly no one is perfect and it is possible to love people who do themselves considerable harm for what ever reason. But in my experience I have learned that approximately ninety five percent of people I have known are incapable of change or significant growth after the age of twenty five.

"You're a bad habit?" Sometimes positive change means letting go. People can be bad habits, habits that need to be kicked just like any other bad habit. Negative thinking, poor choices and bad attitude bring very little but occasional dark humor and loser mentality to the table of any friendship that we maintain with such entities. I have learned that quite often those who espouse love dove and organic mescaline are people who can not maintain any satisfactory levels of commitment interest or contribution but rather expect to receive from the universe unconditionally without exchanging value with the universe whatsoever. These people are like disguised vampires. They make you feel good while sucking the life out of you. They only think of themselves while maintaining that they are your committed friend.

So to move positive change forward in our lives we need to consider the stark reality that some people suck while others suck a little bit less. And then there are those few jewels who are worth not only our time and loyalty but who are worthy of our unconditional love.

Sadly, over the years, I have decided that unconditional love placed in the wrong hands is about the most dangerous thing you can do. Because along with love goes our comittment, time, energy and constant prayers and good intentions. Currency worthy of the same.

The checks and balances of our universe demand balance and when balance is not achieved there is chaos. Fortunately we can make better choices and control our disciplines and move change forward. Who has not spoken in glowing praise what telling her story about the hand full of people who made possible their career success. And what professional person has not had that mentor for without whom they would never have succeeded?

These questions have momentous meaning in their answers. Life change requires the influence and a caliber of people who are smart strong independent thinkers who understand human nature and political dynamics. These people are usually very hard to know and almost impossible to reach, but if we do we are blessed for life. For it is these kinds of independent thinkers, these ferociously daring and keenly perceptive individuals who add dimension and meaning to our lives. They are also the ones who challenge us the most and force us to keep learning and expanding as they place the bar high and cheer us over it screaming GO! GO! GO! louder than anyone else. They expect great things from us and they never let us down. They see our integrity and we know theirs. Once you have that kicking positive change into gear is just a matter of making the shift.

And that is today's thought!

Mathew and his adorable helper at the OB farmers Market

Mathew saves me at lest 20 lbs of slightly bruised "juice" apples each week - as much as I can carry and has never charged me more than $6 for them. I always give him $10. I encourage everyone to patronize Smit Orchards at the Ocean Beach and the La Jolla Farmers Markets. Here is a link to all San Diego farmers markets.

Defining Success, securing your future and staying the hell OUT of trouble

How do you define a successful life? Is it by how much money or stuff you have amassed, or is it by the legacy you leave behind? All too often we equate a successful life with material possessions. Yet, there are millions of people out there who lead successful, fulfilled lives who may be of modest means. They may not be rich in the financial sense, but they are rich in life and values.

So what are the things we should strive for to make our lives successful and have a positive impact on those around us? Here is a list of traits that I think defines what true success in life is all about. Does your list differ?

Face it. She is Barbara

Nouns are some of my favorite words. Among them today are the nouns blond, fantastic, and most certainly Barbara.  Barbara Bates needs no introduction nor can she be found in your Thesaurus, this gal has no synonym.

Modernizing the moment

There is nothing in this universe that excites me more than when I discover something that works.  It could be a lifestyle change or a less toxic way to wash my car...if it works I am into it.

Like everyone I am sick and tired of stupid people and stuff that does not work, things that do not work and ideas that do not work.  I am also over arrogance and self absorbed people who can not see beyond their limitations or through the prison bars that confine them.  Sure I still love them but do not ask me to spend time with people who are so trapped by ego that they can not will not or otherwise don't listen.  "Put up or shut up"  is my new credo...well, it is next to "Sic gorgiamos alos subjectatos nuc" - ask me what it means when you see me or comment below.  It is very funny.
___________________________________

The last six months I thought it was important to let people know about things that I discovered and to talk about it until the yawns and scowls appeared.  It is important to share ideas and discoveries but I need to come to the surface and share more of the "arts and leisure" parts of my world before my friends begin to think I have turned into an organic turnip!  As you all know, and it is certainly no mystery that my success has come from those with whom I have formed friendships.  Perhaps it works differently in other people's experience but where reality meets preferences I have chosen to work with people I like.  I know it is not progressive or necessarily as profitable as some more upwardly mobile methods of accelerating in our culture, but it works for me.  The point of this post is to make it work better while offering sharp skills in a comfortable and professional manner as I expand my ambitious business plan.
